Principal Investigator: Dr. Gina Ogilvie, MD, MSc, CCFP, FCFP, DrPH Associate Professor, University of British Columbia Medical Director, Clinical Prevention Services, BC Centre for Disease Control

Dr. Gina Ogilvie completed her undergraduate education at Queen's University and McMaster University in Ontario, and then did her Family Medicine residency at McMaster University. She then completed a Fellowship in Population and Primary Care at McMaster University. She taught in the Family Medicine in the Department of Family Practice at McMaster University before moving to British Columbia. She completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of British Columbia. Her clinical and research interests include women's health, care of marginalized and at-risk populations, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, HPV screening and the HPV vaccine. She has published widely in these areas, and has consulted both nationally and internationally on cervical cancer prevention, HPV, HPV vaccination and STI care.

At present, Dr. Ogilvie is the Director of Clinical Prevention Services at the BC Centre for Disease Control, and is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia in the Departments of Family Practice, Obstetrics & Gynecology and with the School of Population and Public Health. She holds several million dollars in research grants, and is co-principal investigator of the HPV Focal trial - a randomized trial including over 30,000 women to examine HPV testing vs cytology as the primary screen for cervical cancer.

 

Data Manager: Kimberly Marty, BSc Vaccine Evaluation Center, University of British Columbia, Vancouver

Kim has been involved in research for 22 years, working in clinical data management for the past 17 years. As the data manager for QUEST, she is responsible for the development, management and maintenance of all the databases including online surveys, sample tracking and the central registry. Kim obtained her BSc from UBC.
 



 

Finance Manager: Gordean Bjornson, BSc, MBA Vaccine Evaluation Center, University of British Columbia, Vancouver

Gordean Bjornson has been involved in the development and management of the Vaccine Evaluation Center since 1988 and has worked in research for UBC since 1982. Her role in the QUEST project is financial management. She is part of the management team for the Canadian Association for Immunization Research and Evaluation (CAIRE). Since 2000 CAIRE has been helping Canadian Vaccine Researchers network and improve Canada’s immunization programs.
     

Supplies Manager: Emily Rousseau, BSc Vaccine Evaluation Center, University of British Columbia, Vancouver

Emily is a research assistant at the Vaccine Evaluation Center. She completed her Bachelors of Science degree at Simon Fraser University in Health Science.  

 

 


  Communications Manager: Ashley Cosgrove, BA, MHA Vaccine Evaluation Center, University of British Columbia, Vancouver

Ashley is a research assistant at the Vaccine Evaluation Center. She completed her Bachelors of Arts degree at Carleton University and her Masters in Health Administration at UBC.




 

 

Laboratory Teams:

The QUEST study will have two central laboratories which will process all blood and swab samples. They are located in British Columbia & Quebec.

 


British Columbia Laboratory Lead: Mel Krajden, MD, FRCPC Clinical Prevention Services - Hepatitis Associate Medical Director, Public Health Microbiology and Reference Laboratory BC Centre for Disease Control, Vancouver BC
Mel Krajden oversees the Hepatitis Section of Clinical Prevention Services, is the Associate Medical Director of the Public Health Microbiology and Reference Laboratory at the BC Centre for Disease Control and a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UBC. His clinical research involves integration of hepatitis prevention, care and treatment. His laboratory research involves the application of molecular techniques to diagnose, monitor and track viral transmission. He receives CIHR and other peer reviewed funding to study viruses including hepatitis C, HIV and human papillomavirus and coordinates a number of industry sponsored clinical trials.

 

BC Laboratory Technicians: Wendy Mei and Darrel Cook will be working in the BC laboratory for the QUEST study. They will be doing the HPV testing on the swabs, as well as the antibody testing for the blood tests.
